Cookies

What is a cookie

We use cookies on our website. A cookie is a text file containing small amounts of information that is downloaded on your device's storage mechanism when you access a webpage on the website, and that can subsequently be accessed by our web servers.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, storing your preferences and generally improving your experience of a website.

The EU Directive 2009/136/EC states that we can store cookies on your machine if they are essential to the operation of this site, but that for all others we need your permission to do so.

Essential cookies: these are cookies that are either:

  • used solely to carry out or facilitate the transmission of communications over a network; or
  • strictly necessary to provide an online service (e.g. our website or a service on our website) which you have requested.

Non-essential cookies: these are any cookies that do not fall within the definition of essential cookies, such as cookies used to analyze user behavior on a website (‘analytical’ cookies) or cookies used to display advertisements (‘advertising’ cookies).

Types of cookies

Some of the cookies are essential for the website and, for the ordering platform dedicated to our customers and patients, to allow the online ordering system to work.

Our websites may also use some non-essential cookies. We do not do this to track individual users or to identify them, but to gain useful knowledge about how the sites are used so that we can keep improving them for our users. Without the knowledge we gain from the systems that use these cookies we would not be able to provide the service we do.

Our Web servers may passively collect data through the use of cookies and other means on your computer and Internet connection, such as the IP address of your computer and/or Internet service provider, the date and time you access the Web Site, the Internet address of websites from which you link to our Web Site, the computer technology you are using and your movements and preferences on our Web Site. We may also use such cookies to collect information in connection with future visits to the Web Site (such as to remember username and password), to recognize you as a previous visitor, and to track your activity on the Web Site.

This information is not used to personally identify you but help us to understand how visitors are interacting with our Web Site. These statistics contain no Personal Information and are only used by our technical support staff and marketing teams for purposes of Web Site administration. We reserve the right to use other technologies such as Internet tags, web beacons, and navigational data collection tools. We may combine data gathered through cookies and other tracking technologies with Personal Information, although when we do, we treat all such data as Personal Information for purposes of this Privacy Policy.

Bausch + Lomb uses common evaluation techniques to analyze the response to visits to the websites (IP address, date, time) in order to better tailor their content to customer needs. Pseudonymized or anonymized data, which do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the individual visitor, are stored in order to prepare market analyzes of the use of the websites in the form of statistics (e.g. number of visits, average length of stay per page, frequency of downloads Files etc.). Bausch + Lomb can use so-called cookies to statistically evaluate the use of the website. Depending on the browser settings, cookies are saved as text files on the visitor's hard drive. Cookies make it possible to collect information about your web browser and the activities of your computer on our website. You have the option of refusing to accept cookies, although the setting options differ depending on the browser used. You have the option of setting your browser configuration so that when you receive a cookie you are informed about it and can accept or reject it.

Bausch + Lomb currently uses the analysis tools Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”), on its website. Google use cookies to analyze the use of the website, to compile reports on the activities on the website and to provide other services in connection with the activity and use of the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is transmitted to Google server and stored there. Further information on Google Analytics as well as your configuration options in relation to these two analysis services can be found below. By using this page, you agree to the processing of the data collected about you by us, Google for the aforementioned purpose.

Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are stored on your computer and which enable your use of the website to be analyzed. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The full IP address is only transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there in exceptional cases. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading the browser plug-in available under the following link and install: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We use Google Analytics in Germany for your protection with the extension "_anonymizeIp ()", so that your IP addresses are only processed in abbreviated form to prevent your identification by Google. Further information on Google Analytics can be found on the Internet at: www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/privacyoverview.html. There you will also find information and browser tools with which you can configure and limit the use of Google Analytics.

Google Web Fonts. Our website uses so-called web fonts, which are provided by Google, for the uniform display of fonts. When you visit a website, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache in order to display texts and fonts correctly. For this purpose, the browser you are using must connect to the Google servers. This gives Google knowledge that our website has been accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Web Fonts is in our legitimate interest in a uniform and appealing presentation of our online offers (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR). If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font will be used by your computer. Further information on Google Web Fonts can be found at developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in Google's data protection declaration: www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Google Maps We use Google Maps. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. To use the functions of Google Maps, it is necessary to save your IP address; this is done using cookies, for which you have given your consent, which you can revoke at any time. This information is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. We provide you with Google Maps on our website in order to offer you an appealing presentation of our online offers and to make it easy to find the locations we have stored. You can find further information on their information from the provider.

Facebook pixel Our website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook, Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”) to measure conversion. In this way, the behavior of the page visitors can be tracked after they have been redirected to the provider's website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This allows the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes and future advertising measures to be optimized. The data collected are anonymous for us as the operator of this website; we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with the Facebook data usage guidelines. This enables Facebook to switch advertisements on Facebook pages as well as outside of Facebook. As the website operator, we cannot influence this use of the data. You are therefore asked for your consent to Facebook pixels. You will find further information on protecting your privacy in Facebook's data protection information: www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. You can also deactivate the remarketing function “Custom Audiences” in the advertising settings area at www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/. To do this, you must be logged in to Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can deactivate usage-based advertising from Facebook on the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement/.
